The Characteristics of Growth , Nutrient Status and Berry Setting of Different Aged ¢¥ Kyoho ¢¥ Grapevines

Abstract
The relations between the growth characteristics, nutrient status and berry setting of different aged ¢¥Kyoho¢¥ grapevines were investigated in the Anseong area. The percent of bud bursts on bearing mother branches was low in 2 to 4-year-old vines and high in 6 to 8-year-old vines, and again became low in 12-year-old vines. Shoot length and leaf area of 3 to 7-year-old vines were higher than those of 8-year-old vines. Chlorophyll contents decreased as vines aged. Total carbohydrates of bearing mother branches increased with vine age, but nitrogen contents decreased. P and K contents were high in 2 to 4-year-old vines, but significantly lower in vines over 6-year-old. On the other hand, Ca and Mg contents did not show significant differences between vine ages. B content was higher in 3 to 6-year-old vines than in 7-year-old ones. There was a high percentage of berry setting in 8 to 12-year-old vines compared with 2 to 7-year-old vines. The number of seeded berries was numerous and soluble solids and anthocyanin contents were high in 8 to 12-year-old vines compared with 2 to 7-year-old vines.
